Toxic Noise renamed to Photogenics in early ’84 with the addition of a couple of new members. They first appeared under the new moniker supporting Cacophony Again at The Royal, Guildford on 4 February that year. By this time Failey had left amicably and was replaced on guitar by Andy Jones. It was a gig where Rock Club organizers, Tony and Judith Sawyer, pulled The Photogenics back on to compensate for the headliners lacklustre showing.

Johnson was the student president of Woking College at the time.
