(c’83-’86) Richard Bryant (bass), Jules Brient (vocals), Chris Quirke (guitar), John Donne (drums), and Jamie Harper (rhythm guitar).
We know very little about Hoax. They formed in ’83, and held a recording session at Toad Hall Studios, but not the one in Glasgow, and may have been Foreigner / heavy metal orientated. This produced a demo which has yet to be tracked down. They played varies local venues including a gig on 30 June ’84 at The Royal, Guildford, another at the same venue with Siege; and also appeared at The Wooden Bridge, Guildford.
Quirke and Bryant both worked at BAT, and Hoax were profiled in BAT’s in-house magazine. The band had wrapped it up by ’86 and Bryant left the country shortly after.
The band were, according to bassist Byrant, only together for 2 or 3 years, so is is unclear who the Hoax that played The George, Ash Vale on 21 August 1992.
